DMACC's Simon Gregersen named ICCAC  and NJCAA Pitcher of the Week
  • Gregersen is the second DMACC baseball player to be honored by the NJCAA
  • Gregersen recorded three victories during the week
  • Gregersen got his three wins while working a total of seven and two-thirds innings

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Simon Gregersen the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the week of April 25 to May 1 and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Gregersen the NJCAA Player of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the week of April 25 to May 2.

 

Gregersen is the fifth member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the ICCAC this season and he is the second DMACC baseball player to be honored by the NJCAA this season. Gregersen was also honored by the conference the weeks March 21 to 27 and Feb. 5 to 13.

 

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Jake Thilges of Johnston was honor by the conference the week of April 4 to 10 and was honored by the NJCAA the week of April 11 to 17. CoFR Tre Mungin of Omaha, Neb., was honored by the ICCAC the week of Feb. 5 to 13 and DMACC freshman Jackson Stewart of Urbandale and CoFR Kaleb Krier of Altoona were honored for their pitching performances the weeks of April 18 to 24 and Feb. 21 to 27 respectively.

 

Gregersen was the winner in all three games as the Bears went 3-2 during the week. He worked four innings in a 2-1 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) April 27 at the DMACC baseball diamond, allowing two hits and striking out four batters.

 

Gregersen threw two innings in an 11-10 win over Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) April 30 at Centerville, allowing one hit and striking out three and he went an inning and two-thirds and struck out two batters in a 3-2 win over IHCC May 1 at the DMACC baseball diamond.

 

Gregersen worked a total of seven and two-thirds innings during the week, allowing three hits, striking out seven and walking three.

 

Gregersen, who is ranked third in the ICCAC in saves, is 6-2 with seven saves and a 1.38 earned run average this season. He has pitched 32 and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on 24 hits. Five of the six runs allowed by Gregersen are earned. He has struck out 47 batters, walked 14 and is averaging 12.95 strikeouts per nine innings.

 

The DMACC softball team closes out the regular season with a three-games series against Southeastern Community College (SECC) May 6 and 7 at West Burlington.
