DMACC's Jake Thilges named NJCAA Player of the Week for Division II baseball

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named DMACC's Jake Thilges the NJCAA Player of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of April 11 to 17.

 

Thilges, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Johnston, is the first member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the NJCAA this season.

 

Thilges collected 13 hits in 26 at-bats as the Bears won five of six games during the week. His 13 hits included two doubles, a triple and four home runs. He drove in 22 runs and scored 11 runs.

 

Thilges' top performances included two home runs and five RBIs in a 12-9 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in the first game of a doubleheader April 12 at Creston. He hit two more home runs and drove in seven runs in a 24-3 DMACC win in the second game.

 

Thilges was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs in an 18-8 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) April 15 at the DMACC baseball diamond.

 

Thilges is hitting .406 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .736 slugging percentage this season. He is 43-for-106 and his 43 hits include 14 doubles, three triples and five home runs. Thilges has driven in 39 runs and scored 23 runs. He has stolen four bases in five attempts.
