DMACC's Jake Thilges named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Thilges had 11 hits in 21 at-bats as the Bears went 3-3 during the week
  • Thilges drove in 10 runs in the six games
  • Thilges extended his hitting streak to 10 games

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jake Thilges the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of April 4-10.

 

Thilges, a Covid-freshman (CoFR) from Johnston, is the fourth member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. CoFR Tre Mungin of Omaha, Neb., was honored for the week of Feb. 5 to 13 and CoFR Simon Gregersen of Ramsey, Minn., was honored for his pitching performances the weeks of March 21 to 27 and Feb. 5 to 13. CoFR Kaleb Krier of Altoona was honored for his pitching the week of Feb. 21 to 27.

 

Thilges hit .529 as the Bears went 3-3 during the week. He had 11 hits in 21 at-bats, including four doubles and seven singles. His 11 hits accounted for 10 runs batted in and he extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Thilges had three multi-hit games and had three hits in two of the six games, marking his second and third three-hit games of the season.

 

Thilges his currently hitting .404 with a .491 on-base percentage and a .719 slugging percentage. He has 36 hits in 89 at-bats, including 12 doubles, two triples and four home runs. Thilges has driven in 28 runs and scored 17 runs.

The DMACC baseball team, 24-12 overall and 10-5 in the ICCAC, will face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in a three-game series April 15 and 16 at the DMACC baseball diamond. ECC is 6-29 overall and 2-14 in the ICCAC.
