DMACC's Simon Gregersen named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week for DivisionII baseball
  • Gregersen is the fourth DMACC baseball player to be honored by the ICCAC
  • Gregersen helped the Bears to two of their three wins during the week
  • Gregersen is tied for second in the ICCAC in saves with five

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Simon Gregersen the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball (pitching) for the week of March 21 to 27.

 

This is the second time Gregersen, a freshman from Ramsey, Minn., has been honored by the conference. He also earned the award for the week of Feb. 5 to 13. Gregersen is the third member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Tre Mungin, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Omaha, Neb., was honored the week of Feb. 5 to 13 and Kaleb Krier, a CoFR from Altoona, was honored for his pitching performance the week of Feb. 21 to 27.

 

Gregersen helped the Bears to two of their three wins over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) during the week. He allowed one hit and struck out four in two innings in a 6-3 win on March 25 and allowed two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in a 5-3 win on March 27. Gregersen earned his fifth save of the season in the 6-3 victory and improved to 2-1 with the win on March 27.

 

Gregersen is tied for second in the ICCAC in saves with five. He has pitched 15 innings this season, allowing three runs on 15 hits with 25 strikeouts and three walks. He has an earned run average of 1.80.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 17-7 overall and 5-0 in the ICCAC, will host Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in doubleheaders April 2 and 3 at the DMACC baseball diamond. KCC is 17-6 overall and 1-2 in the ICCAC. The Eagles are ranked fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.
