DMACC's Tre Mungin named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball
  • Mungin tripled, scored two runs and drove in a run as the Bears split a season-opening series against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa
  • Mungin hit two home runs and drove in seven runs as DMACC swept four games from North Central Texas College
  • Mungin hit two home runs, drove in eight runs and scored five runs as DMACC went 5-1 in the six-game road trip

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Tre Mungin the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of February 7-13.

 

Mungin, a Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) from Omaha, Neb., is the second member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. CoFR Simon Gregersen of Ramsey, Minn., was named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball (pitching) for the week of Feb. 7-13.

 

Mungin, a second baseman, hit two home runs, drove in eight runs and scored five runs as the Bears went 5-1 on a season-opening road trip to Oklahoma and Texas.

 

Mungin had one hit as the Bears opened the season with a 6-5 win over Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa (NOT) of Feb. 10. He tripled and drove in a run as NOT took the second game of the doubleheader, 7-6.

 

Mungin homered and drove in three runs in a 7-6 win over North Central Texas College (NCTC) in the first game of a doubleheader on Feb. 11 and hit a single and a home run and drove in three runs in a 14-12 win in the second game on Feb. 11.

Mungin had one hit and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in a 5-4 win over NCTC in the first game of a doubleheader on Feb. 12. He sat out the second game on Feb. 12.

 

For the season, Mungin is hitting .400 with a .474 on-base percentage and a .933 slugging percentage. He has six hits in 15 at-bats, including two home runs and a triple, has driven in eight runs and has scored five runs.

 

The DMACC baseball team is idle until Feb. 25 and 26 when the Bears travel to Enid, Okla., to face Northern Oklahoma-Enid (NOE).
