DMACC's Ashley Michel named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for women's golf

DMACC's Ashley Michel named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for women's golf
  • Michel tied for first and finished third in two tournaments during the week
  • Michel led the Bears to first- and third-place finishes
  • Michel has not finished worse than third in any tournaments this fall

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Ashley Michel the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for women's golf for the week of September 26 to October 2.

 

Michel, a sophomore from Nassau, Bahamas, has been honored by the conference for the second time during the fall season. She also earned the award for the week of Sept. 12 to 18.

 

Michel played in two tournaments during the week, the Waldorf Challenge at Rice Lake Country Club in Lake Mills on Sept. 25 and the Waldorf Invitational at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea, Minn., on Sept. 26. Michel posted scores of 83 in both tournaments, tying for medalist honors in the Waldorf Challenge and finishing third in the Waldorf Invitational. She led DMACC to the team championship in the Waldorf Challenge and to a third-place finish in the Waldorf Invitational.

 

Michel has two individual championships to go with her tie for first in the Waldorf Challenge. She took medalist honors in the NIACC Invite on Sept. 8 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City and in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone. Michel has not finished worse than third in any tournaments this fall.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will close out the fall season in the Grand View Invitational Oct. 10 and 11 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Ankeny.
