DMACC women's golf team ties for team championship in DMACC Invitational

 

The DMACC women's golf team earned its first team championship of the fall season in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 15 at the Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames. The Bears and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) tied for the title with scores of 349, finishing 15 strokes ahead of third-place Simpson College (SC).

 

Iowa Lakes' Kelly Winter took medalist honors with a six-over-par 77.

 

DMACC was led by freshmen Taylor Balsley of Ames and Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas. Balsley posted an 85 and tied for fourth and Michel shot 86 and finished sixth. Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Krista Swenson of Story City and freshman Danielle Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., tied for ninth with scores of 89 and freshman Emmy Monson of Runnells finished 11th with a 92.

 

Rounding out DMACC's performance were CoFR Frannie Brown of Grundy Center and freshman Jaiden Wallander of Indianola. Brown shot 100 and tied for 23rd and Wallander posted a 106 and finished in 30th place.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Waldorf Invitational Sept. 26 and 27 at Albert Lee, Minn., and Rice Lake. The tournament will be played at Albert Lee on Sept. 26 and at Rice Lake on Sept. 27.
