DMACC women's golf team finishes fourth in Bent Tree Intercollegiate

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team closed out the fall season with a fourth-place finish in the Bent Tree Intercollegiate September 30 and October 1 at Council Bluffs.

 

The Bears finished the 36-hole tournament with 720 strokes behind rounds of 370 and 350. Bellevue University took the team championship with 645 strokes and Bellevue's Madison Brooks won individual honors with a two-day total of 157 on rounds of 82 and 75.

 

Sophomore Lydia Steier of Des Moines led DMACC with a 175 after posting scores of 91 and 84. She tied for 12th place in the individual competition.

 

Other DMACC results saw freshman Krista Swenson of Jewell finish in 18th place. Freshman Emily Koche of Iowa City was 18th and freshman Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction finished 19th. Sophomore Abi Tinlin of Des Moines rounded out DMACC's performance with a tie for 20th place.

 

Swenson shot rounds of 93 and 86 for a 179; Koche turned in scores of 92 and 91 for a 183; Duncan posted scores of 94 and 91 for a 185; and Tinlin had rounds of 99 and 89 for a 188.

 

The DMACC women's golf team finished the fall season with two championship, winning the NIACC Invitational on Sept. 12 at Mason City and taking the Red Tail Shootout on Sept. 26 at Waterloo.
