DMACC women's golf team captures second fall championship

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team won its second championship of the fall season by taking the Red Tail Shootout September 26 at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo.

 

The Bears, who won the NIACC Invitational on Sept. 12, shot 353 in the 18-hole event, finishing six strokes ahead of Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) and William Penn University (WPU). Katrina Estes of WPU won medalist honors with a nine-over-par 81.

 

Freshman Lydia Steier of Des Moines led DMACC with an 85 and freshmen Krista Swenson of Jewell and Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction each shot 88. Steier tied for second in the individual competition and Swenson and Duncan tied for sixth.

 

Other DMACC scores included a 92 by sophomore Abi Tinlin of Des Moines and a 93 by freshman Emily Knoche of Iowa City. Tinlin tied for 11th and Knoche tied for 14th
