DMACC women's basketball team falls to IWCC, 66-51

 

Freshman Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake scored 14 points and Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Camry Jones of Okoboji and freshman Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., added 11 points apiece as the DMACC women's basketball team dropped a 66-51 decision to Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) January 17 at Council Bluffs.

 

The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the Bears and sent them to 10-7 overall and 3-4 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

IWCC took control of the game in the first quarter when the Reivers ended the period with a 22-8 lead. They were up 40-26 at halftime and led 57-39 at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC was limited to 34 percent shooting, making 19 of 56 field goal attempts. The Bears were just 2-of-11 from three-point range and made 11 of 19 free throw attempts.

 

IWCC also had the advantage in rebounding, 43-28. Ainley and Jones led DMACC with six rebounds apiece and sophomore Reagan Franzen of Polk City and freshman Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant had five apiece. Freshmen Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., and Jensen Archibald of Martinsdale led the Bears in assists with three apiece and in steals with three apiece.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) Jan. 21 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Panthers are 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
