DMACC women's basketball team gets 93-34 win over Marshalltown

Freshman Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., led four players in double figures with 18 points as the DMACC women's basketball team handed Marshalltown Community College (MCC) a 93-34 loss January 14 at Marshalltown. All of Huchinson's points came from three-point range where she drained six of nine shots.

 

Freshman Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake and Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Camry Jones of Okoboji scored 12 points apiece and freshman Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant finished with 11 as the Bears improved to 10-6 with their fourth straight victory.

 

DMACC opened up a 26-4 advantage after the first quarter and had a 50-22 lead at halftime. The Bears were up 75-31 after three quarters.

 

DMACC shot 46 percent in the win and held MCC to 18 percent on 10-of-55 shooting. The Bears were 33-of-72 from the field, 10-of-24 from three-point range and 17-of-22 from the free throw line.

 

Ainley led DMACC to a 33-23 advantage in rebounding with six rebounds. Fuller finished with five and Jones and sophomore Reagan Franzen of Polk City had four apiece. Freshman Chassidy Henwood of Newton dished out a team-high three assists and she and Ainley topped DMACC in steals with two apiece.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will put its winning streak on the line Jan. 17 when the Bears face Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) at Council Bluffs. DMACC is 3-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). IWCC is 13-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
