DMACC's Jaden Ainley named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Basketball
  • Ainley's double-double led the Bears past Black Hawk-Moline CC
  • Ainley made eight of 10 field goal attempts and was 8-of-10 at the free throw line
  • Ainley leads the Bears in scoring with a 13.6 average

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Jaden Ainley the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II women's basketball for the week of November 21 to 27.

 

Ainley, a freshman from Clear Lake, is the first DMACC women's basketball player to be honored by the conference this season.

 

Ainley earned the honor behind a 24-point, 10-rebound performance in DMACC's 69-64 win over Black Hawk-Moline Community College (BHMCC) Nov. 22 at Moline, Ill. Her points came from eight field goals in 16 attempts and she was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. The points and rebounds were season highs for Ainley, who also had two assists and two steals in the game.

 

Ainley leads the Bears in scoring with a 13.6 average and she is also averaging 4.9 rebounds a game. She has scored 95 points and is shooting 36 percent from the field, having made 31 of 87 field goal attempts. She is 9-of-44 from three-point range for 21 percent and has made 24 of 34 free throw attempts for 71 percent.

 

Ainley has pulled down 34 rebounds, including 21 defensive rebounds. Her season also includes 17 assists, 15 steals and one blocked shot.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team is 4-3 for the season with a three-game winning streak. The Bears will host the Simpson College junior varsity Dec. 1 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
