The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) women's basketball team drained 17 three-point field goals in 45 attempts en route to a 110-85 win over the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team January 16 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

The loss dropped the Bears to 7-10 overall and 2-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

NIACC led throughout the game. The Trojans had a 26-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter, a 61-44 lead at halftime and a 91-61 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Sophomore Aliyah Robinson of Waterloo led DMACC with 22 points and freshman Shailece Porter of Walthill, Neb., added 13 points. Sophomores Grace Stalzer of Zearing and Ellie Horn of Newton scored nine points apiece and freshman Hannah McKinney of Des Moines had eight points.

The Bears shot 41 percent in the loss, connecting on 31 of 76 field goal attempts. They were 8-of-25 from three-point range and 15-of-24 from the free throw line.

DMACC came away with a 46-43 advantage on the boards with freshman Sameria Jackson of Houston, Texas, leading the Bears with eight rebounds. Stalzer pulled down seven and Porter dished out a team-high four assists. Jackson, Porter and Robinson led DMACC in steals with three apiece.

The DMACC women's basketball team will face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) January 19 at Iowa Falls. The Panthers are 0-17 for the season and 0-4 in the ICCAC.
