DMACC Women's Basketball Team Falls to NIACC, 110-78

Sophomore Joniqua Clark of Cedar Rapids led four players in double figures with 22 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team dropped a 110-78 decision to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), February 24 at Mason City.

 

Sophomore Beth Atwood of Packwood scored 19 points and sophomores Regan Shockley of Hartley and Molly Mitchell of Okoboji added 16 and 15 points respectively as the Bears slipped to 20-9 overall and 7-5 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

NIACC led throughout the game. The Trojans were ahead 33-18 at the end of the first quarter and 66-31 at halftime. They had an 88-57 advantage at the end of three quarters.

 

DMACC shot just 31 percent in the game, hitting 26 of 85 field goal attempts. The Bears were 10 of 31 from three-point range and 16 of 28 from the free throw line.

 

NIACC had a 62-60 advantage on the boards with Atwood and Mitchell grabbing 12 rebounds apiece to lead DMACC. Clark dished out a team-high six assists.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will play Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Feb. 28 at Fort Dodge. The Tritons are 14-14 overall and 6-6 in the ICCAC. ICCC was victorious by a 67-56 score when the two teams played Jan. 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
