DMACC Women Improves to 8-2 With 76-42 Win

Sophomore Regan Shockley of Hartley scored 13 points and freshman Aliyah Robinson of Waterloo and sophomore Joniqua Clark of Cedar Rapids had 13 and 10 points respectively as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team improved to 8-2 for the season with a 76-42 victory over Marshalltown Community College (MCC) November 28 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears led 25-9 at the end of the first quarter and coasted to the win. They had a 39-15 advantage at halftime and led 54-23 at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC shot 51 percent in getting the win, hitting 30 of 59 field goal attempts. The Bears were 13-of-27 from three-point range with Robinson making all four of her three-point attempts, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

 

Freshman Ellie Horn of Newton had eight rebounds, freshmen Grace Stalzer of Zearing and Deja Davis of Omaha, Neb., had seven rebounds apiece and sophomore Beth Atwood of Packwood finished with five as DMACC had a 47-35 advantage on the boards. Clark led the Bears in assists with six and Robinson and sophomore Molly Mitchell of Okoboji finished with five and four respectively.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will face Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SECC) Dec. 2 at Beatrice, Neb. The Bears were 74-69 winners when the two teams played Nov. 4 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
