Robinson Leads DMACC Women Past Mount Mercy JV, 69-50

Freshman Aliyah Robinson of Waterloo scored 20 points to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team to a 69-50 win over the Mount Mercy University junior varsity November 7 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Sophomore Regan Shockley of Hartley and freshman Emma Rouse of Boone tallied 11 points apiece as the Bears improved to 3-0 for the season.

 

DMACC led throughout the game, including 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. A 20-6 run in the second period game the Bears a 36-18 advantage at halftime and they led 49-32 after three quarters.

 

DMACC shot 38 percent in the win, connecting on 24 of 63 field goal attempts, including 9-of-24 from three-point range. The Bears were 12-of-16 from the free throw line.

 

Sophomores Molly Mitchell of Okoboji and Beth Atwood of Packwood pulled down seven rebounds to lead DMACC to a 44-30 advantage on the boards. Shockley dished out a team-high six assists with Robinson getting four and Shockley, Robinson and Rouse had two steals apiece.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will play in the Hawks Classic Nov. 10 and 11 at Norfolk, Neb. The Bears will face North Platte Community College (NPCC) on Nov. 10 and will play Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) on Nov. 11.
