Thirteen DMACC softball players earn all-region honors
  • Freshman Macee Reilling named Offensive Player of the Year
  • Freshman Kierra Jungers named Co-Pitcher of the Year
  • DMACC will play in the Northwest Plains-B District Tournament May 9 and 10

 

Thirteen members of the DMACC softball team were named to the Division II Softball All-Region Team announced today by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

First-team honors went to sophomore Josie McCuddin of Truro, freshman Ella Husak of Polk City, freshman Erin Ades of Boone, freshman Macee Reilling of Dallas Center, sophomore Breanna Caffery of Bettendorf, freshman Bri Tigges of Urbandale, freshman Jacki Baas of Bondurant and freshman Kierra Jungers of Fonda.

 

McCuddin was named to a catching position, Husak, Ades and Reilling were named to infield positions, Caffery and Tigges were named to outfield positions and Baas and Jungers were named to pitching positions. Reilling was named the Offensive Player of the Year and Jungers was named Co-Pitcher of the Year, sharing the honor with Peyton Paulsen of Kirkwood Community College.

 

Third-team honors went to sophomore Mia Trewin of Waukee, sophomore Hilary Wilson of Solon, sophomore Mia Walker of Fonda, sophomore Macy Blomgren of Waukee and freshman Jasey Anderson of Estherville. Trewin was named to a catching position, Wilson was named to an infield position, Walker was named to an outfield position and Blomgren was named to a pitching position. Anderson was selected as a utility player.

 

Reilling is hitting .500 with a .533 on-base percentage and a .878 slugging percentage. She has 90 hits in 180 at-bats and her hits include 30 doubles, a triple and 12 home runs. Reilling has driven in 81 runs and scored 66 runs. She leads the Bears in home runs and RBIs and finished second to Husak in the ICCAC in batting average.

 

McCuddin is hitting .364 with a .471 on-base percentage and a .646 slugging percentage. She has collected 36 hits from 99 at-bats, including 14 doubles, a triple and four home runs. McCuddin has driven in 32 runs and scored 24 runs.

 

Husak leads the Bears and the ICCAC in hitting at .511. Her on-base percentage is .570 and she has a .567 slugging percentage. Husak has 92 hits in 180 at-bats, including four doubles and three triples. She has driven in 33 runs and scored a team-high 82 runs. Husak is second to Caffery in stolen bases with 47 and has yet to be thrown out attempting to steal a base.

 

Ades is hitting at a .406 clip with a .477 on-base percentage and a .764 slugging percentage. She has 67 hits in 165 at-bats and her hits include 16 doubles, five triples and 11 home runs. Ades has driven in 59 runs and scored 63 runs.

 

Caffery has a .492 batting average to go with a .559 on-base percentage and a .718 slugging percentage. She has 61 hits in 124 at-bats and her hits include 10 doubles, six triples and two home runs. Caffery has driven in 31 runs and scored 54 runs. She leads the team and the ICCAC in stolen bases with 54 and those stolen bases have come from 55 attempts.

 

Tigges is hitting .413 with a .497 on-base percentage and a .747 slugging percentage. Her 62 hits have come from 150 at-bats and include nine doubles, four triples and 11 home runs. Tigges has driven in 47 runs and scored 50 runs.

 

Baas has an 18-1 record, a 1.35 earned run average and one save. She has started 19 games and pitched six complete games. Baas as pitched 109 innings, allowing 46 runs, 21 earned runs, on 93 hits with 104 strikeouts and 31 walks. She is averaging 6.68 strikeouts per seven innings and is allowing 1.14 hits and walks per inning.

 

Jungers is 24-1 with a 1.45 ERA. She has made 26 starts and has nine complete games, including three no-hitters. Jungers has pitched 125 and a third innings, allowing 32 runs, 26 earned runs, on 77 hits. She has struck out 208 batters and walked 40. Jungers is averaging 11.62 strikeouts per seven innings and .93 walks and hits per inning.

 

Trewin is hitting .350 with a .366 on-base percentage and a .400 slugging percentage. She has 14 hits in 40 at-bats and her hits include a pair of doubles. She has driven in seven runs and scored three runs.

 

Wilson is hitting .365 with a .418 on-base percentage and a .551 slugging percentage. She has 61 hits in 167 at-bats, including 16 doubles and five home runs. She has driven in 56 runs and scored 39 runs.

 

Walker has a .373 batting average to go with a .410 on-base percentage and a .627 slugging percentage. Her 28 hits in 75 at-bats include five doubles, a triple and four home runs. Walker has driven in 20 runs and scored 13 runs.

 

Anderson is hitting .448 with a .516 on-base percentage and a .810 slugging percentage. She has 41 hits in 105 at-bats and those hits include eight doubles, six triples and six home runs. Anderson has driven in 32 runs and scored 41 runs. She has 17 stolen bases from 22 attempts.

 

Blomgren is 7-0 with a 2.27 ERA and three saves. She has made 11 starts and thrown one complete game. Blomgren has pitched 64 and two-thirds innings, allowing 26 runs, 21 earned runs, on 40 hits with 101 strikeouts and 29 walks. She is averaging 10.39 strikeouts per seven innings and 1.07 walks and hits per inning.

 

The DMACC softball team, 53-5 and ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, will face Dawson Community College (DCC) in the Northwest Plains-B District Softball Tournament May 9 and 10 at the DMACC softball diamond. The winner of the best 2-of-3 series will advance to the 2025 NJCAA Division II Softball World Series May 19 to 24 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.

 

DMACC has won 10 consecutive district championships and 11 in the past 12 seasons. The Bears are seeking their 11th consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series and their 12th appearance in the past 13 seasons. DMACC finished third nationally in 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2023 and was fourth in 2015.
