DMACC's Maddie Karr named ICCAC DII Player of the Week

Maddie Karr Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Maddie Karr the ICCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of March 11 to 17.

 

Karr, a freshman from Center Point, helped the Bears to a doubleheader sweep of Allen County Community College (ACCC) during the week, collecting six hits in eight at-bats. She belted two home runs, drove in 10 runs and scored four runs as DMACC won by scores of 18-0 and 16-3.

 

Karr is hitting .513 with 20 hits in 39 at-bats this season. Her 20 hits include four doubles and four home runs. She leads the Bears in runs batted in with 18 and has scored 12 runs. Karr is ranked third in the ICCAC in batting and third in RBIs.

 

The DMACC softball team, ranked fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, is 12-3 for the season with a six-game winning streak. The Bears are scheduled to face Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in a doubleheader today at Overland Park, Kan.
