DMACC men's cross country team finishes 11th in Trent Smith Invitational

Freshman Anthony Rodriguez of Des Moines finished 15th overall and the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's cross country team placed 11th in the Trent Smith Invitational October 11 at Mason City.

 

Rodriguez toured the 8K course in 26 minutes, 45 seconds as the Bears scored 293 points. The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) took the team championship with 27 points and Benjamin Allen of Concordia University won the individual competition with a time of 26:15.

 

Other DMACC results included a 53rd-place finish by freshman Dakota Rusher of Story City. Freshman Cameron Campbell of Ames was 62nd and freshman Hunter Humiston of Columbus Junction and sophomore Blake Gregory of Ogden were 81st and 82nd respectively. Rusher posted a time of 28:31, Campbell crossed the finish line in 29:02, Humiston finished in 30:30 and Gregory in 30:36.

 

DMACC freshmen Noah Lee of Boone, Aaron Thompson of Ames and Cole Bennett of Ogden also ran in the meet. Lee finished 85th in 31:53 and Thompson placed 86th in 32:03. Bennett crossed the finish line in 32:12, but his placing was unavailable.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI championship Oct. 25 at Ottumwa.
