DMACC men's golf team finishes sixth in NJCAA Region XI Fall Preview
  • Freshman Spencer Clatt leads DMACC with a tie for fourth place

The DMACC men's golf team closed out the fall season with a sixth-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Fall Preview October 17 and 18 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.

 

The Bears shot a 36-hole score of 631 on rounds of 321 and 310. Kirkwood Community College (KCC) won the team championship with a two-day total of 604. The Eagles posted rounds of 306 and 298 in coming away with the title.

 

KCC's Luke Evans took medalist honors with a one-over-par 145 over the par 72 layout, posting rounds of 72 and 73.

 

DMACC was led by freshman Spencer Clatt of Gilbert. Clatt turned in rounds of 74 and 75 for a 36-hole score of 149 and tied for fourth place. Sophomore Sam Vertanen of Ames tied for 12th with a two-day total of 155. Vertanen posted rounds of 77 and 78.

 

Other DMACC results included a tie for 25th by freshman Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill; a tie for 37th by sophomore Ethan Gillis of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, and freshman Cole Johnson of Sioux City; a tie for 45th by freshman Drake Anderson of Sargeant Bluff; a tie for 50th by freshman Kaleb Allen of West Burlington; and a tie for 54th by freshman Cade McGill of Johnston.

 

McNeeley shot rounds of 84 and 76 for a 160 total. Gillis posted rounds of 84 and 80 for a 164 and Johnson finished with 164 strokes on rounds of 81 and 83. Anderson turned in rounds of 86 and 81 for a 36-hole score of 167 and Allen shot rounds of 87 and 82 for a 169 total. McGill finished at 172 on rounds of 87 and 85.
