DMACC men's golf team finishes second in DMACC Invitational

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

 

Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) took the team championship with an 18-hole score of 290 and DMACC was second at 295. Colton Mishek of Mount Mercy University (MMU) and Janlo Zaayman of ILCC shared medalist honors with three-under-par 69s.

 

Freshman Cade McGill of Johnston led DMACC with a two-under-par 70, finishing third in the individual competition. Freshman Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill and sophomore Sam Vertanen of Ames tied for fourth with one-under-par 71s and freshmen Drake Anderson of Sargeant Bluff, Kaleb Allen of West Burlington and Layden Losh of Boone tied for 13th with two-over-par 74s.

 

Other DMACC scores included a 75 by sophomore Ethan Gillis of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, a 79 by freshman Spencer Clatt of Gilbert and an 80 by freshman Cole Johnson of Sioux City. Gillis tied for 20th, Clatt tied for 24th and Johnson tied for 26th.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Hawkeye Invite Sept. 30 at Fox Ridge Golf Club in Dike.
