DMACC men's golf team ties for third in NIACC Fall Invitational

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a tie for third place in the NIACC Fall Invitational September 8 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.

 

The Bears finished the 18-hole tournament with 306 strokes, tying Hawkeye Community College (HCC) for third place. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) won the team championship with a score of 301 and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) finished second at 304.

 

ICCC's Austin Erickson took medalist honors with an even-par 72.

 

Freshman Spencer Clatt of Gilbert led DMACC with a two-over-par 74, tying for third place in the individual competition. Freshmen Drake Anderson of Sargeant Bluff and Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill tied for 11th place with four-over-par 76s and freshman Cade McGill of Johnston posted a 78 and tied for 21st place.

 

Other DMACC scores included an 80 by sophomore Sam Vertanen of Ames and an 82 by freshman Kaleb Allen of West Burlington. Vertanen tied for 29th and Allen tied for 35th.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
