Buchanan, Taylor lead DMACC men past Iowa Central CC, 90-63

Sophomores Tray Buchanan of East Moline, Ill., and Quinton Taylor of Cedar Point, Texas, scored 17 points apiece as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team handed Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) a 90-63 loss January 26 at Fort Dodge.

 

Sophomore DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., sophomore Ray Miller of Davenport and freshman Zach Lester of Clear Lake also reached double figures with 16, 13 and 10 points respectively as the Bears ran their record to 13-6 overall and 3-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). DMACC led 47-38 at halftime.

 

The Bears shot 50 percent, hitting 31 of 62 field goal attempts. They were 13-of-30 from three-point range and 15-of-20 from the free throw line.

 

Miller grabbed eight rebounds and Buchanan and Taylor added five apiece as DMACC came away with a 42-30 advantage on the boards. Buchanan led the Bears in steals and assists with four and three respectively.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will host Little Priest Tribal (LPT) Jan. 30 inside the DMACC gymnasium. LPT is 12-6 overall and 3-3 in the ICCAC. The game has been moved to 4 p.m. from 7:30 p.m. because of dangerous windchills predicted for evening.
