DMACC baseball team drops 13-5 decision to NECC

The DMACC baseball team fell to 32-19 overall and 18-12 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) following a 13-5 loss to Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) May 4 at Norfolk, Neb.

 

DMACC trailed 5-2 after four innings but gained a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the fifth and two in the top of the sixth. NECC responded with three runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to come away with the win.

 

Freshman Reed Stallman of Alburnett and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Jake Thilges of Johnston had three hits apiece for DMACC with Thilges getting a double. Stallman drove in a pair of runs and Thilges came away with one RBI. Freshman Cael Boever of Sioux City collected two hits in the loss, including a double.

 

CoFR Jackson Stewart of Urbandale pitched the first four innings for the Bears, allowing five runs on seven hits. He struck out two batters. CoFR Bret Price, Jr., of Boone went two and a third innings and suffered his third loss of the season against four victories. He allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three batters. CoFR Ben Dixon of Sioux City worked two-thirds of an inning and gave up three runs on two hits with one walk and freshman Brady Latcham of Pekin allowed two runs on two hits in a third of an inning. Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Ray Ray Douglas of Sioux City also went a third of an inning and gave up one hit, struck out one batter and walked one.

 

The DMACC baseball team will close out the 2022 regular season with a three-game series against Southeastern Community College (SECC) May 6 and 7 at West Burlington. The two teams will play a doubleheader on May 6 and a 9-inning single game on May 7. SECC is 36-11 overall and 19-11 in the ICCAC.
