The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) baseball team improved to 19-21 for the season by winning both games of a doubleheader against Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) April 25 at the DMACC baseball diamond.

The Bears took the opener in five innings, 14-4, and won the second game, 2-1.

Freshmen Jackson Uner of Stillwater, Minn., and Carlos Eusebio of Coral Springs, Fla., combined on a four-hitter in DMACC's win in the opener. Uner allowed one hit and walked one batter over three innings and improved to 5-0 with the win. Eusebio allowed four runs on three hits, struck out one and walked two in two innings on the mound.

Freshman Robbie McCargar of West Des Moines paced the Bears at the plate with three hits and a pair of runs batted in. Sophomore Matt Krambeck of Omaha, Neb., had two hits and two RBIs and freshmen Calen Schwabe of Thompson, N.D., Austin Murr of Denmark Township, Minn., and Denver Blinn of West Fargo, N.D., had two hits apiece. DMACC all but put the game out of reach with eight runs in the first inning and four in the second.

Sophomore Luke Longmuir of Cottage Grove, Minn., scatted two hits over four innings, struck out one and walked one as he improved to 3-2 with the win in the second game. Freshman Sam Laakso of Duluth, Minn., earned his first save of the season, allowing two hits over three innings and walking one batter.

The Bears scored both of their runs in the first inning. Schwabe opened the inning with a double, moved to third on Krambeck's base hit and came home on a passed ball. Krambeck took second on the passed ball, stole third and scored on a throwing error.

DMACC was limited to just three hits in the win. The Bears got a base hit from Murr in addition to Schwabe's double and Krambeck's single.

The DMACC baseball team will face Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in doubleheaders April 28 and 29 at Fort Dodge. DMACC is 6-12 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). ICCC is 20-24 overall and 9-11 in the ICCAC.
