Stewart Leads DMACC Women's Cross Country to Spartan Classic Championship
Freshman Grace Stewart of Perry took medalist honors and DMACC women's cross country runners grabbed five of the first six places as the Bears won the Spartan Classic Sept. 28th at Creston.

 

Stewart posted a time of 22 minutes, 31 seconds on the 5K course as DMACC scored 17 points and finished 21 points ahead of runner-up Southwestern Community College (SWCC).

 

Sophomore Elizabeth Belling of Grimes, freshman Cindy Liera of LeGrand, freshman Karima Kuku of Des Moines and freshman Ashley Weringa of Algona grabbed four of the next five places behind Stewart. Belling posted a time of 22;31, finishing second; Liera ran a 25:52, finishing third; Kuku was timed in 27:53, finishing fifth; and Weringa posted a time of 28:22 and finished sixth.

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Trent Smith Invitational Oct. 11th at Mason City.
