DMACC women's cross country team finishes sixth in Herb Blakely Invitational

Freshman Grace Stewart of Perry finished ninth overall as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's cross country team placed sixth in the Herb Blakely Invitational Sept. 14 at Sioux Center.

 

Stewart was timed in 20 minutes, 53 seconds over the 5K course as the Bears scored 150 points in the meet. Olivia Couch of Dordt College took medalist honors with a time of 19:34 in leading her team to the team championship with 18 points.

 

Other DMACC results included a 14th-place finish from sophomore Elizabeth Belling of Grimes. Her time was 21:03. Freshman Karima Kuku of Des Moines finished 40th in 25:15, sophomore Sebrina Ure of Panora was 43rd in 26:48 and freshman Ashley Weringa of Algona finished in 44th place with a time of 26:52.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Southwestern XC Classic Sept. 28 at Osceola
