Freshman Elizabeth Belling of Grimes placed 29th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship Meet October 26 at Bettendorf.
Belling toured the 5K (3.1-mile) course in 23 minutes. 23 seconds. Abeda Sullivan of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) won the individual championship with a time of 18:38, leading the Tritons to the team championship.
DMACC had four runners in the meet, not enough to allow the Bears to qualify for the team championship.
Other DMACC runners included freshman Kianna Lechtenberg of Centerville, freshman Ashleigh White of Waukee and freshman Saylor Davis of Tripoli. Lechtenberg finished in 40th place with a time of 28:05, White was 43rd in 29:22 and Davis was 46th with a time of 32:14.
