DMACC cross country team finishes seventh in Grand View Viking Invitational

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a seventh-place finish in the Grand View Viking Invitational September 14 at Pleasant Hill.

 

Morningside College took the team championship with 31 points and DMACC scored 170 points in finishing seventh. Waldorf College's Marissa Kuik took medalist honors with a time of 19 minutes, 49 seconds over the 5K (3.1-mile) course.

 

DMACC was led by freshman Elizabeth Belling of Grimes, who finished 16th in 22:48. Freshman Kianna Lechtenberg of Centerville finished in 36th place and freshman Saylor Davis of Tripoli was 37th. Lechtenberg turned in a time of 27:30 and Davis crossed the finish line in 29:10.

 

Freshmen Sabrina Ure of Panora and Ashleigh White of Waukee rounded out DMACC's performance with 40th- and 41st-place finishes respectively. Ure was timed in 31:22 and White finished with a time of 32:58.

 

The DMACC cross country team will run in the Dan Houston Invitational Sept. 29 at Waverly.
