DMACC cross country team finishes 16th in Les Duke Invite

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a 16th-place finish in the Les Duke Invite September 8 at Grinnell.

 

The Bears, running against 12 four-year college teams, six community college teams and two club teams, scored 399 points in the meet. Grinnell College, the host team, took the championship with 44 points. Marissa Kuik of Waldorf College won medalist honors, running the 6K course in 23 minutes, 9 seconds.

 

Freshman Elizabeth Belling of Grimes led DMACC with a 52nd-place finish in 27:13. Freshman Kianna Lechtenberg of Centerville finished in 78th place with a time of 31:43 and freshman Sabrina Ure of Panora was 83rd in 32:34.

 

Freshmen Ashleigh White of Waukee and Saylor Davis of Tripoli rounded out DMACC's performance with 92nd- and 94th-place finishes respectively. White crossed the finish line in 36:13 and Davis posted a time of 36:34.

 

The DMACC cross country team will run in the Viking Invitational Sept. 14 at Des Moines.
