DMACC Cross Country Team Closes Season at National Meet

DMACC Cross Country at National Meet

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team closed out the 2017 season with its participation in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Cross Country Championship Nov. 11 at Fort Dodge.

 

The Bears scored 1,165 points and finished 42nd in the team standings. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) won the team championship with 52 points and the Tritons Adva Cohen won the individual competition, running the 5K (3.1-mile) course in 17 minutes, 24 seconds.

 

Sophomore Molly Eyerly of Winterset led DMACC, placing 202nd with a time of 22:14. Sophomore Chasity Moody of Maxwell crossed the finish line in 22:26, good for 207th place, and sophomore Jada Wierck of West Des Moines finished in 232nd place with a time of 23:31. Rounding out DMACC's performance were freshmen Anna Jones of Maxwell and Cassie Anderson of Knoxville. Jones placed 260th with a time of 26:50 and Anderson finished in 264th place with a time of 34:58
