DMACC Cross Country Team Finish Fifth in Region XI Time Trial

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a fifth-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Time Trial Aug. 26 at Council Bluffs.

 

Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) took the team championship with 15 points and DMACC scored 124 points in finishing fifth. ICCC's Adva Cohen took the individual title as she toured the 5K (3.1-mile) course in 18 minutes, 41 seconds.

 

Sophomores Molly Eyerly of Winterset and Chasity Moody of Maxwell led DMACC with 27th- and 28th-place finishes respectively. Eyerly crossed the finish line in 23:31 and Moody was three seconds behind at 23:34.

 

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Jada Wierck of West Des Moines finish in 34th place, freshman Anna Jones of Maxwell was 38th and freshman Cassie Anderson of Knoxville finished in 41st placed. Wierck's time was 26:30, Jones ran the course in 29:28 and Anderson crossed the finish line in 41:07.

 

The DMACC cross country team will run in the Bill Buxton Invitational Sept. 1 at Indianola.
