Four DMACC volleyball players earn all-conference and all-region honors

Four members of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team have been named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) all-conference teams and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) all-region teams.

 

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison was named to the all-conference first team and the All-Region XI-A First Team. Freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center earned second-team all-conference honors and second-team All-Region XI-A honors and sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs and freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames received all-conference honorable mention. Courtney was also named to the All-Region XI-A First Team and Schaa joined Miles on the All-Region XI-A Second Team.

 

Dilsaver, an all-conference first team selection in 2018, led the ICCAC in kills with 147 and was in the top 10 in blocks with 26. She hit .244 for the season, collecting 488 kills from 1,318 attacks with 166 hitting errors. Dilsaver, who averaged 3.73 kills per set, finished the season with 80 ace serves, 178 digs and 110 blocks, including 79 block assists. For the season, Dilsaver was fourth in the conference in kills and kills per set and fifth in hitting percentage.

 

Schaa topped DMACC in assists with 1,111, averaging 8.82 assists per set. Her season also included 42 kills, 316 digs and 28 block assists. For the season, Schaa was second in the conference in kills per set.

 

Courtney led the Bears in blocks with 181, including 108 block assists, averaging 1.38 blocks per set. She finished third in kills with 173 and compiled a .209 hitting percentage with those 173 kills coming from 588 attacks with 50 hitting errors. Courtney also had 46 digs on the season. She led the ICCAC in blocks per set for the season.

 

Miles was the DMACC leader in digs with 831, averaging 6.34 digs per set. Her season also included five kills, 68 assists and 27 ace serves. For the season, Miles was second in the conference in digs and digs per set.

The DMACC volleyball team closed the season at 18-18. The Bears were 6-3 in the ICCAC and saw their season end with a 3-0 loss to Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XI-A Volleyball Tournament.
