DMACC volleyball team falls to Kirkwood CC in regional play

Freshmen Darian Gray of Mechanicsville and Katelyn Courtney of Ames had seven kills apiece and sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison added six kills as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAAA) Region XI-A Volleyball Tournament November 2 at Fort Dodge.

 

KCC, which went on to win the Region XI-A championship, won by set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 25-13 as the Bears closed the season at 18-18.

 

DMACC hit just .114 in the match, getting 31 kills from 132 attacks with 16 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs had 16 assists in the loss and freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center and Gray finished with 26 and 18 digs respectively. Courtney, Dilsaver and freshman Megan Haley of Creston had three blocks apiece with Haley getting three block assists. Courtney and Dilsaver had two block assists apiece.

 

Dilsaver was named to the NJCAA Region XI-A All-Tournament Team announced at the conclusion of the tournament.
