DMACC volleyball team drops 3-1 decision to Central

Sophomores Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison and Kyra Ikeda of Cedar Rapids had 13 and 11 kills respectively as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Central (Neb.) Community College (CNECC) October 25 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

CNECC won by scores of 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 as the Bears fell to 18-15 for the season.

 

DMACC hit .176 in the loss, getting 43 kills from 153 attacks with 16 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs topped DMACC in assists with 22 and freshman Bailey Jennings of Burlington had 15. Dilsaver contributed three ace serves and freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center came away with two.

 

Freshman Darian Gray of Mechanicsville led three Bears in double figures in digs with 19. Miles added 16 and Dilsaver came away with 12. Freshman Sloane Magill of Sigourney contributed eight blocks, including six block assists and freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames and Ikeda had five blocks apiece with both getting four block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will face Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) today inside the DMACC gymnasium. Match time is 6:30 p.m. IHCC, which defeated the Bears 3-0 Aug. 28 at Ottumwa, is 31-3 and the Warriors come into the match with 13 consecutive victories. They are ranked sixth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I poll.
