Dilsaver lifts DMACC volleyball team past William Penn JV, 3-1

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison hit .343 behind 17 kills and added 11 ace serves, seven digs and three blocks to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over the William Penn University junior varsity October 17 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears won by set scores of 25-16, 25-8, 21-25, 27-25 to improve to 17-14 for the season.

 

Dilsaver got her 17 kills from 35 attacks with five hitting errors for a .343 hitting percentage. DMACC hit just .167 in the win, getting 38 kills from 132 attacks with 16 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs led the Bears in assists with 31 and sophomore Kyra Ikeda of Cedar Rapids finished with three ace serves. Freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center led DMACC in digs with 23 and Schaa came away with 11. Freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames had 11 blocks, including six solo blocks. Schaa had four block assists and freshman Sloane Magill of Sigourney added four blocks, two block assists and two solo blocks.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host Ellsworth Community College (ECC) in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) match Oct. 23 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Match time is 6:30 p.m. The Bears are 5-2 in league play. ECC is 5-24 overall and 0-7 in the conference.
