DMACC volleyball team tops Hawkeye

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison had 15 kills and freshman Darian Gray of Mechanicsville added 10 as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team defeated Hawkeye Community College (HCC), 3-0, October 16 at Waterloo.

 

The Bears won by set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 to improve to 16-14 overall and 5-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Dilsaver hit .353 in the match, getting her 15 kills from 34 attacks with three hitting errors. Gray hit .357 with her 10 kills coming from 28 attacks with no hitting errors. As a team, DMACC hit .268 with 46 kills coming from 139 attacks with nine hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs led the Bears in assists with 28 and freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center had a team-high 27 digs. Freshman Jordan Neely of Tiffin added 25 digs, Gray came away with 18 and sophomore Kyra Ikeda of Cedar Rapids had 11. Freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames finished with six blocks, including five block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host the William Penn University junior varsity today inside the DMACC gymnasium. Match time is 6:30 p.m.
