Dilsaver leads DMACC volleyball team past SECC, 3-1

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison had 13 kills, four ace serves and three block assists to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Southeastern Community College (SECC) October 9 at West Burlington.

 

The Bears dropped the opening set, 17-25, but took the next three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-19 to improve to 14-13 overall and 4-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Dilsaver got her 13 kills from 39 attacks with three hitting errors for a .256 hitting percentage. DMACC hit .117 in the match, getting 39 kills from 180 attacks with 18 hitting errors.

 

Freshman Bailey Jennings of Burlington led the Bears in assists with 29 and sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs came away with eight. Jennings and freshman Sloan Magill of Sigourney contributed two ace serves apiece.

 

Freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center led four player in double figures in digs with 30. Freshman Darian Gray of Mechanicsville had 22, freshman Jordan Neely of Tiffin finished with 19 and Magill added 10. Freshman Katelyn Courtney of Ames led the Bears in blocks with eight, including five solo blocks. Gray and Magill joined Dilsaver with three blocks apiece.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Triton Invitational Oct. 11 at Fort Dodge. The Bears will face Cowley County Community College (CCCC) at noon and will play Williston State College (WSC) at 1:45 p.m.
