DMACC volleyball team sweeps Southwestern CC, 3-0

Sophomore Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison had 18 kills and the DMACC volleyball team compiled a .302 hitting percentage in sweeping Southwestern Community College (SWCC), 3-0, September 25 at Creston.

 

The Bears improved to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) behind set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-14.

 

Dilsaver hit .378 in leading DMACC to the win. Her 18 kills came from 37 attacks with just two hitting errors. As a team, the Bears had 46 kills from116 attacks with 11 hitting errors. Freshmen Darian Gray of Mechanicsville and Katelyn Courtney of Ames contributed eight and seven kills respectively.

 

Sophomore Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs had 37 assists and Dilsaver and sophomore Kyra Ikeda of Cedar Rapids had three ace serves apiece. Schaa also led DMACC in digs with 16. Freshman Dakota Miles of Dallas Center came away with 14 and Gray had 12.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Parkland College Classic today and Sept. 28 at Champaign, Ill. The Bears will play McHenry County College (MCC) and Rock Valley Community College (RVCC) today and will face Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) and Illinois Central College (ICC) on Sept. 28. ICC is ranked ninth in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
