Paulsen, Dilsaver lead DMACC volleyball team past Ellsworth

Sophomore Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs and freshman Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison had 12 kills apiece in leading the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) October 3 at Iowa Falls.

 

Set scores were 25-16, 25-13, 24-26, 25-11.

 

With the win, DMACC, ranked 19th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), improved to 16-7 overall and 4-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

The Bears, who got nine kills from sophomore Peyton Parker of La Porte City, six by freshman Kyra Ikeda of Fairfax and five from sophomore Gill Tupper of Nevada, hit .342

In the win. They had 49 kills from 111 attacks with 11 hitting errors.

 

Tupper topped DMACC in assists with 38 and added an ace serve. Freshman Keimoney Lang of Iowa City led three players in double figures in digs with 15 and Dilsaver came away with a team-high nine blocks, including five solo blocks. Freshman Daiton Martin of Essex finished the match with 12 digs and sophomore Lacey Clark of Bettendorf had 11.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host the DMACC Tournament Oct. 5 and 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will face Parkland College (PC) and Neosho County Community College (NCCC) on Oct. 5 and will play Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and Highland (Kan.) Community College (HCC) on Oct. 6. The Bears defeated RCTC, 3-0, on Sept. 7 and dropped a 3-1 decision to NCCC on Sept. 17. PC brings a 34-1 record and a No. 2 ranking in NJCAA Division II into the tournament.
