Parker, Paulsen lead DMACC volleyball team past Iowa Lakes CC

Sophomore Peyton Parker of La Porte City had 13 kills and sophomore Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs added 10 to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) September 26 at Estherville.

 

The Bears, ranked 18th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association, defeated the Lakers by set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 to improve to 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

DMACC hit .288 in the win, getting 45 kills from 111 attacks with 13 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Gill Tupper of Nevada and freshman Caitlin Schaa of Council Bluffs contributed 17 and 16 assists respectively to the win. Tupper added four ace serves with freshman Daiton Martin of Essex getting three and freshman Keimoney Lang of Iowa City coming away with two. Martin and Lang led the Bears in digs with 15 apiece, Tupper finished with 12 and Paulsen and Schaa had nine apiece. Freshman Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison led DMACC in blocks with three, including two block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Johnson County Volleyball Challenge Sept. 28 and 29 at Overland Park, Kan. The Bears will face Central (Neb.) Community College (CCC) and North Platte Community College (NPCC) on Sept. 28 and will play Johnson County Community College (JCCC) and Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) on Sept. 29. JCCC is ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division II.
