DMACC volleyball team drops 3-0 decision to Northeast

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team fell to 8-2 for the season and 1-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) following a 3-0 loss to Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) September 12 at Norfolk, Neb.

 

Set scores were 23-25, 17-25, 15-25.

 

With the win, NECC improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the ICCAC.

 

DMACC came into the match ranked 12th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll. NECC is ranked 17th.

 

Sophomore Peyton Parker of La Porte City led DMACC with eight kills and freshman Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison and sophomore Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs added six and five kills respectively. The Bears hit a disappointing .067 in the loss, getting 27 kills from 104 attacks with 20 hitting errors.

 

Freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada led DMACC in assists with 15 and freshman Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs had 11. Paulsen led the way in digs with 13 and freshman Daiton Martin of Essex came away with 11. Dilsaver topped the Bears in blocks with four, including three block assists, and Paulsen had three block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play Longview Community College (LVCC) and Neosho Community College (NCC) Sept. 17 at Lee's Summit, Mo.
