DMACC volleyball team tops Kirkwood for sixth straight win

Sophomore Peyton Parker of La Porte City had nine kills and sophomore Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs and freshman Amber Dilsaver of Fort Madison contributed eight apiece to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Kirkwood Community College (KCC) August 29 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Set scores were 25-22, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21 as the Bears improved to 6-0 for the season and 1-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

DMACC won despite a less than stellar hitting match. The Bears came away with 36 kills from 114 total attacks with 23 hitting errors for a .114 hitting percentage. Freshmen Kyra Ikeda of Fairfax and Tahj Haire of Rockford, Ill., had five and four kills respectively in the win.

 

Sophomore Gill Tupper of Nevada led DMACC in assists with 20 and freshman Cailey Schaa of Council Bluffs had 15. Freshman Daiton Martin of Essex led the way in ace serves with five and in digs with 20. Paulsen came away with 13 digs and Schaa added 12. Dilsaver finished the match with nine blocks, including five solo blocks, and Parker had four blocks, including three block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team continues ICCAC play with a match against Hawkeye Community College (HCC) Sept. 5 at Waterloo.
