DMACC WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM TAKES SECOND PLACE AT HAWKEYE INVITATIONAL AND THIRD AT DMACC INVITATIONAL

The DMACC women's golf team captured second place at the Hawkeye Invitational held on the Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike on Friday, October 2.  They took third place at the DMACC Invitational held on the Ames Golf and Country Club on Monday, October 5.

North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) won the Hawkeye Invitational tournament with a 349.  DMACC finished three strokes back with a 352.  Waldorf University took third with a 354.

Individually, DMACC golfer Lydia Steier of Granger took third place with an 11 over par 83.  DMACC's Krista Swenson of Story City tied for fourth with an 85.  Quinn Eslinger of Afton tied for ninth with a 91.  Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction and Emily Knoche of Iowa City each shot a 93 tying them for 12th place. Frannie Brown of Grundy Center shot a 102.

The DMACC women golfers finished in third place at the DMACC Invitational on Monday, October 5.

Iowa Western Community College won the DMACC Invitational, shooting a 335.  Central College was in second followed by DMACC with a 358.

Steier again paced the DMACC Bears with a seventh place finish, shooting an 84.  Swenson tied for eighth with an 86.  Duncan and Knoche tied for 22nd with 94s.  Also, DMACC's Frannie Brown shot a 97 followed by a 102 by Quinn Eslinger

"The women put up a great effort at our DMACC Invite.  It was a very windy day, which made conditions very tough," DMACC Head Women's Golf Coach Chris Seaboch said.  "The women displayed great attitudes despite the conditions being tough.  And that's the number one thing we always focus on as coaches.  We ask them to keep fighting for every stroke, and they did that.  With Iowa Western full of International players, and Central College full of juniors and seniors, we knew a high finish would be very tough.  But for us to finish third, and 10 shots ahead of Iowa Lakes, I am happy with where we finished."

Seaboch said he was pleased to see Lydia Steier shooting an 84 and Krista Swenson shooting an 86.

"Krista has put together back-to-back good rounds and it's good to see her playing closer to her potential," Seaboch said.  "We are still waiting for the opportunity to have three or four scores all in the 80s.  We have the players to do it, we just need them to keep working on the little things like chipping and putting."

The DMACC Bears compete next in the Grand View Viking Invitational being held at Otter Creek in Ankeny on Monday, October 19.
