DMACC WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM FINISHES IN FIFTH PLACE AT BVU INVITATIONAL

The DMACC women's golf team took fifth place at the Buena Vista University (BVU) Invitational at Lake Creek in Storm Lake on Saturday, September 26.

DMACC finished with a 65 over par 353.  Wartburg College won the invitational with a 330 followed by Concordia, Nebraska with a 343.

Lydia Steier of Granger led DMACC with an 83, which tied her for sixth place overall.   DMACC golfers Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction, Quinn Eslinger of Afton and Krista Swenson of Story City each tied for 19th place with 90s.

Rounding out the DMACC scorers were a 98 each by Frannie Brown of Grundy Center and Emily Knoche of Iowa City.  That tied them for 39th place.

"I was happy with how Lydia Steier and Quinn Eslinger played," DMACC Women's Golf Head Coach Chris Seaboch said.  "Lydia shooting an 83, and placing 6th was a good finish after her last performance.  And for Quinn, as a freshman, to come so close to breaking 90 showed me a lot about her as well.  I do think she will keep improving and expect a few scores in the 80's from her this fall.  She definitely has the ability to do so."

Seaboch said the team did not play anywhere close to their capabilities.

"I thought we had kind of an off week of practice, and that carried over to our meet on Saturday," Seaboch said. "I will admit, the weather was tougher than we've played in lately.  It was fairly windy, and the Lake Creek Golf Course does have some quirky holes on it."

The DMACC Bears play at the Hawkeye Invitational at the Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike on Friday, October 2.

"We have two really good meets coming up with the first at Fox Ridge in Dike, and then our Invitational at Ames Golf and Country Club," Seaboch said. "Those are both courses I think our girls can score well on.
