DMACC's Alison Schweers and Kylie Nichols continue play in NJCAA Women's National Championship

Sophomores Alison Schweers of Carroll and Kylie Nichols of Ogden posted a 93 and a 92 respectively May 15 in the second round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's National Championship at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Schweers has a 36-hole score of 180 and is tied for 50th in the individual competition. Nichols is at 182 and is tied for 54th.

"It was another decent day for our ladies," DMACC women's golf coach Chris Seaboch said. "We scored a little higher than (May 14), but they battled hard."

Seaboch said Schweers is fifth among ladies from NJCAA Region XI and Nichols is sixth.

"Many scores from our region were considerably higher (May 15), but (Schweers and Nichols) hung tough and were only a few shots higher," Seaboch said. "I am very proud that they are beating all of the Iowa Lakes (Community College) girls and a few of the Iowa Western (Community College (Community College) girls."

Seminole State College leads the team competition with a two-day total of 597. SSC has a 16-stroke lead over second-place Daytona State College. Iowa Western Community College is seventh in the competition and Iowa Lakes Community College is 12th.

Individually, SSC's Worapitcha Anndit has a three-stroke lead over teammate Sophia Warren. Both played posted even-par scores of 72 in the second round.

The tournament concludes today.
