DMACC women's golf team finishes sixth in Buena Vista Fall Invite

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team came away with a sixth-place finish in the Buena Vista Fall Invite September 21 and 22 at Lake Creek Country Club in Storm Lake.

 

Grand View University took the team championship with a 36-hole score of 656 and DMACC totaled 748 strokes in finishing sixth. The Bears were the only two-year college team playing in the tournament.

 

Karli Kerrigan of Grand View University won medalist honors with a six-over-par 148 over the par-71 layout.

 

Sophomores Kylie Nichols of Ogden and Alison Schweers of Carroll led DMACC with identical scores of 176, tying for ninth place. Nichols shot rounds of 89 and 87 and Schweers posted scores of 83 and 93.

 

Other DMACC results included a 25th-place finish by freshman Abi Tinlin of Des Moines and a tie for 31st by sophomore Meghan Matherly of Ankeny. Tinlin turned in scores of 95 and 98 for a 193 and Matherly shot 203 on rounds of 95 and 108.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Region Preview Oct. 11 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
