DMACC Women's Golf Team is Second at the Halfway Point of the NJCAA Region XI Championship

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team is in second place following the first two rounds of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship April 20 and 21 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

 

The tournament will be completed April 27 and 28 at Otter Creek Golf Course.

 

Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) leads the team championship at the halfway point with 661 strokes and DMACC was second at 690 strokes. IWCC's Lisa Lied is the tournament medalist thus far, posting a score of 142.

 

DMACC's first two rounds were led by sophomore Jaime Bellingham of Auckland, New Zealand, who posted rounds of 79 and 80 for a 36-hole total of 159, finishing third overall.

 

Other DMACC results find sophomore Kortney Orr of Columbus Junction in sixth place and freshmen Alison Schweers of Carroll and Kylie Nichols of Ogden are tied for 11th. Orr turned in scores of 81and 86 in the first two rounds for a 167, Schweers shot rounds of 86 and 96 for a 182 and Nichols posted rounds of 92 and 90 for a 182.
