Camry Jones of Okoboji High School in Milford has signed a national letter of intent to attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and play women's basketball.

Jones, a post player, is the fifth commitment to the DMACC women's basketball program for the 2020-21 school year. Other signees are Emily Caspers of West Fork High School in Sheffield, Grace Flanagan of North Linn High School in Coggon, Jenna Bohaty of Millard West High School in Omaha, Neb., and Karlyn Snider of West Marshall High School in State Center.

Jones said the family atmosphere and small town vibes she felt when visiting DMACC were among the reasons she chose to attend the school.

"When you visit the Boone Campus you already feel at home and not so much as an outsider," Jones said, adding that she thinks the school's athletic programs focus as much on the classroom as the basketball court.

"To me, being a student-athlete was a big factor when I visited DMACC," Jones said. "I am excited to be studying with professors on more than a 1:1 basis and furthering my basketball career with a staff that knows the game well, can teach it and they care about you as a person."

Jones said attending DMACC will help her further her basketball career because the coaches work hard to help students excel at their respective positions and get them ready to play at the next level.

Jones helped the Pioneers to a 19-3 record in 2018-19, averaging 10.8 points and 10 rebounds a game. She shot 53 percent from the field, making 97 of 183 field goal attempts. She was 43-of-80 from the free throw line for 54 percent. Jones finished second on the team in rebounding with 210 rebounds, including 134 defensive rebounds. Her season also included 26 assists, 11 steals and 18 blocked shots. Postseason honors included all-conference honorable mention as a freshman third-team all-conference as a sophomore and second-team all-conference as a junior.

Jones also participates in volleyball, softball and track and field at Okoboji High School. She earned all-conference honorable mention in volleyball this past season.
