DMACC women's basketball team faces KCC in Region XI tourney

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team will face Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.

 

The game will be played at 5:30 p.m. March 4 at Cedar Rapids.

 

DMACC is the tournament's No. 7 seed. The Bears are 10-19 overall and were 4-12 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). KCC is seeded second. The Eagles finished second to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in the ICCAC at 14-2 and are 27-3 overall.

 

KCC, ranked fourth in the NJCAA Division II poll, won both regular season matchups, 89-58 Jan. 15 inside the DMACC gymnasium and 95-36 Feb. 12 at Cedar Rapids.

 

The DMACC-KCC winner will play Southeastern Community College (SECC) or Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in the tournament semifinals March 7 at a site to be determined. The tournament continues with the championship game on March 8 at a site to be determined.

 

The Region XI champion advances to the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship March 17 to 21 at Port Huron, Mich.
